Train your speaking skills together with a partner

You are learning German, know the grammar, do exercises — but when it’s time to speak, the words disappear? This is the most common problem among those preparing for the DTZ, Goethe, or Telc exams. The speaking part is what scares people the most. And that’s exactly why we created Sprechen üben — a live video conversation feature with other students right inside DeutschMeister.

How does it work?

It’s as simple as possible. You choose your level — from A1 to C2 — and click “Find a partner”. The system automatically matches you with a conversation partner at the same or adjacent level. Within seconds you receive an invitation, confirm it — and the conversation begins.

No registrations on external platforms. No Zoom links. Everything happens directly in the browser, on any device.

What makes this feature special?

  • Level matching. You won’t be paired with someone three levels above or below you. The system matches a partner ±1 level to ensure the conversation is comfortable and useful for both.
  • Ready-made topics and questions. Don’t know what to talk about? For each level, real exam scenarios with prompts are prepared — just like on DTZ or Goethe. You practice exactly what will be on the exam.
  • Video and audio. Full video connection via WebRTC — quality like Google Meet or Zoom. No camera? No problem — you can communicate by voice only.
  • Built-in chat. You can write in the chat during the conversation — convenient when you need to clarify a word or write an unfamiliar expression to your partner.
  • 5-minute sessions. Each conversation is limited to 5 minutes. This is the ideal format: enough to practice, but not too long to feel pressured. In the last minute, you will see a warning — just like in a real exam.
  • Rating after the conversation. After finishing, you can rate your partner. This helps maintain the quality of the community.

Why are live conversations more effective than any exercises?

Tip: practise what you've just read with interactive exercises — it sticks better.

Research shows: to start speaking a foreign language fluently, you need to speak. Not read, not listen, not do tests — but actually speak with another person. When you speak live, your brain works completely differently: you formulate thoughts in real time, react to answers, choose words under pressure — and this is what trains real language competence.

DeutschMeister is the only platform where you can learn grammar, train pronunciation with AI, and speak with real people — all in one place.

Who is this for?

If you are preparing for a language exam, live in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, and want to finally start speaking — this feature is for you. It is free for all users with an active subscription.

Don’t wait for the exam to open your mouth in German for the first time. Start today — find a partner and talk for 5 minutes. It will change your attitude towards the language.
